Marina Bay Financial Centre & Residences

The Marina Bay Financial Centre consists of five high rise towers with associated retail and extensive underground parking.  The total space measures around six million square feet and encompasses two residential towers of 66 and 55 storeys and three commercial office towers up to 50 storeys.

Financial Centre - Key Challenges

  1. Meeting multiple requirements of safety, economy, rapid constructability, maximum efficiency and flexibility to the end-users.
  2. Constructing a two-level basement in the reclaimed land ground conditions with up to 25 metres of very soft marine clay.
  3. A site bounded by movement sensitive underground structures on three sides and existing mass rapid transit (MRT) tunnels within the southern boundary while the Combined Services Tunnels (CST) route is adjacent to northern and western boundaries.
  4. Designing of transfer structures to accommodate the MRT tunnels within the site.

Residences - Key Challenges

  1. Meeting multiple requirements of safety, economy, rapid constructability, maximum efficiency and flexibility to the end-users.
  2. Constructing a tower and podium structure housing a carpark and town houses within a congested site area.
  3. Meeting the slender aspect ratio ranging from 10 to 11.
  4. A site bounded by existing CST Tunnels requiring close monitoring during construction.
