Spanning 101 hectares, Gardens by the Bay comprises three waterfront gardens - Bay South, Bay East and Bay Central.  Bay South, the largest at 54 hectares, will offcially open in June 2012.  It aims to showcase the best of tropical horticulture and garden artistry.  Bay East is 32 hectares in size and has a two-kilometre promenade frontage that embroiders the Marina Reservoir.  Bay Central will act as a link between Bay South and Bay East.  It stands at 15 hectares with a three-kilometre waterfront promenade that allows for scenic walks stretching from the city centre to the east of Singapore.

Key Challenges

  1. The design of the steel structure using non-standard section shapes and sizes.
  2. Careful planing of the constrction sequence of the conservatories.
  3. Ensuring structural stability of the steel structure during all stages of construction.
  4. Careful monitoring of setting out dimensions and deflections.
